This past April a couple of our very close friends and my husband and I took a little trip to Mayo County, Ireland. We stayed in an adorable little beach lodge airbnb right on the coastline. Although it was breezy and stormy, it was a perfect trip! Everyday we woke up and explored different areas within a 30 min – 2 hour drive. The history in this part of the world is amazing. We climbed all over Rosserk Friary and Moyne Abbey – both built in the mid 1400’s! We also visited the Ceide Fields, the oldest field systems every discovered in the whole world! A whole afternoon was spent wandering around the Belleek Woods and Castle, supposedly a home to fairy woods. On my birthday, we drove a ways down to Galway, through the Connemara National Park and wandered around the Kylemore Abbey, which sits on a mountain lake surrounded by Victorian gardens. The rest of the trip was full of sheep and cows, endless green landscapes and yummy scotch whisky. Can’t wait to go back!
wow – beautiful
